College scholarships equaling $500 each will be presented to the winning essay of four lucky area high school seniors as part of the Run for the Roses 5K Run/Walk.
The applicant must be enrolled in a Jefferson Davis County School.
The deadline for entry is Friday April 18, 2017. All applications must be turned in to the appropriate high school counselor by this date. Essays must be limited to 100 words. Applications may be downloaded by clicking on the links below or picked up from your respective high school counselor. Home schooled students are eligible and are not required to have counselor's signature.
Requirement: Applicant must be a high school senior and a resident of Jefferson Davis County. Scholarship money will be sent to the college of the recipients choice upon proof of registration. One scholarship in the amount of $500 will be awarded to the winner.
Run for the Roses Scholarship Three of the scholarship essays refer specifically to Run for the Roses and how events such as this benefit small communities. One $500 scholarship will be awarded to each county high school.

Catherine Turner Scholarship
The recipient of the Catherine Turner Scholarship will be awarded a $500 scholarship. Catherine Turner was a member of the Run For The Roses planning committee and exhibited the true spirit of volunteerism. Students are asked to explain what volunteerism means to them and give examples of their own volunteer efforts. The recipient of the Catherine Turner Scholarship will be chosen based on their essay.
